Partners for Success Mentor Purpose: In collaboration with Volunteers in Action (a faith-based agency), Partners for Success matches DenverWorks clients with mentors. DenverWorks clients are typically low-income or unemployed adult jobseekers with a barrier to employment. Mentors support the mission of DenverWorks by assisting the mentee with short and long term goals, particularly relating to obtaining and retaining employment.
Duties: • Provide focus, support, friendship, and counsel to a jobseeker
• Help a mentee find solutions to life challenges
• Hold a mentee accountable to his or her goals • Offer reinforcement and constructive example
Qualifications:
• Willingness to work through potential obstacles to set and help achieve mentee goals
• Patience, understanding, and compassion for a person recently employed or searching for a job
Benefits:
• Formation of a personal and supportive relationship to encourage long-term change
• Realization for potential for community impact
• Personal fulfillment
Time Commitment: Mentors are asked to spend one hour per week with mentee for a minimum of six to twelve months.
Training:
• Attend a mentor training session held four times a year
• Receive support and share experiences with other mentors at in-service meetings held three times a year

Life-Skills Group Mentor Purpose: This program is intended for clients who wish to receive the benefits of mentoring in a group setting. Group sizes can vary and may be up to 15 individuals. Sessions are held on the fourth Thursday of each month from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the DenverWorks office. The program gives clients an opportunity to receive in-depth training in a variety of life-skills topics that wil be vital to their success and personal development.
Duties: • Teach/facilitate set topics; such as budgeting, parenting, spirtual matters, and many others • Lead open discussions with mentees regarding the scheduled topic • Help find solutions • Offer reinforcement and constructive real life examples to questions posed by mentees
Qualifications: • Willingness to work through potential obstacles presented by mentees • Willingness to share your life experiences to help shape the future of another • Patience, understanding and compassion for a person recently released from incarceration
Benefits: • Personal fulfillment • Formation of a personal and supportive relationship to encourage long-term change • Realization of potential for community impact
Time Commitment: Mentors are asked to lead one session per year, 2 hours in length. Sessions are held on the fourth Thursday of each month in the evening.
Training: • Attend a mentor training session held four times a year • Receive support and share experiences with other mentors at in-service meetings held three times a year

"First 48 Out of the Gate" - Inmate Mentor Purpose: The "First 48 Out of the Gate Program" is offered to current offenders who are six months or less from release. This program is led in a group setting and teaches offenders a variety of life-skills that will be necessary for a successful reentry into society. Sessions are held at Colorado Correctional Facility in Golden and Denver Women's Correctional Facility in Denver.
Duties: • Encourage, support, and listen to mentees • Teach/facilitate set topics; such as budgeting, parenting, spirtual matters, and many others • Lead open discussions with mentees regarding the scheduled topic • Help find solutions to obstacles faced by mentees • Offer reinforcement and constructive real life examples to questions posed by mentees
Qualifications: • Felony free background • Willingness to work with incarcerated individuals • Willingness to share your life experiences to help shape the future of another • Patience, understanding, and compassion for a person in need of a fresh start

Time Commitment: Mentors are asked to co/lead one session every month, 2 hours in length. There are typically a minimum of two mentors assigend to lead each session.
Training: • Attend an eight-hour training provided by the Colorado Department of Corrections • Receive support and share experiences with other mentors at in-service meetings (held 3 times a year)
