Our volunteers share what they find most meaningful about volunteering at DenverWorks
Clothing Closet Volunteers:
“Making a difference in people’s lives. It’s not just about the clothes; they are the vehicle we use to show our care for the clients.” – Judy
“I like the looks on the men’s faces when they have been treated with respect and given encouragement. I can see their transformation as they come in unsure of themselves and leave with a more positive self-image as a result of knowing that they are well dressed.” – Diane
“The fulfillment I have every time I leave knowing that I have helped several gals on the right path to feel good about themselves and their future.” – Diane
“I really like the people that come in here and how excited and happy they are when they leave. They all look like they’re going to have a new start. A few years ago a gal came in who was about my age. She was so happy and thankful for the clothes we had picked out together that she wanted to give back. I was going through a difficult time in my own life then and before she left she shared some prayers with me. It meant so much to me that someone I had served wanted to give back to me." - Gini

Offender Mentors:
"Seeing how the ladies have progressed over the program sessions in terms of preparing for the outside world is very fullfilling and encourages me to continue to work in the program... The impact on me personally has been very positive. It has helped me to be more aware of how a seemingly small amount of my time can make such a difference to others. The opportunity to see these individuals successfully transition into society is extremely rewarding." - Amanda
